Does SFEDI Awards provide centres with documentation to use?
SFEDI Awards provides standard documents and these can be seen within the Centre Documentation section of the website.
As with all Awarding Organisations, SFEDI Awards provides these documents for the use of the centre but we do not mandate that these must be used. If you have sufficient documentation within your centre that meets the minimum requirements of assessment and quality assurance then these can be viewed at your External Quality Assurance visit where we can offer guidance.
We do this as we appreciate that our centres are possibly using multiple Awarding Organisations and prefer to use generic paperwork that meets all requirements and so allows for more efficient running of the assessment and quality assurance process.
The mapping documents make it seem that holistic assessment cannot be used, is this right?
SFEDI Awards has provided standard documents within the Centre Documentation section of the website for the use by centres. Smart assessment often means holistic assessment where one piece of evidence can be used across multiple units within a qualification.
As an Awarding Organisation, we are required to provide generic standard documents that can be used in all foreseeable situations and one such situation is where a learner wishes to complete just one unit within a qualification.
SFEDI Awards actively encourages the use of smart assessment practices and the generic documentation should in no way be seen as stopping the practice of holistic assessment. If a centre requires information on how to record holistic assessment using the standard documentation then please contact our Customer Services Team on email@example.com or speak to your External Quality Assurer at your next centre visit.
