The Level 4 Certificate in Conducting Maladministration and Malpractice Investigations is aimed at those who are in a position to carry out investigations into suspected maladministration or malpractice.
The delivery of qualifications includes the implementation of comprehensive quality assurance systems conducted by both internal and external quality assurance personnel.
This qualification supports the further development of these systems in order to improve the quality and validity of the delivery and certification process protecting both the learner undertaking the qualification and the regulatory system that the qualification is a part of.
This qualification develops knowledge regarding the management of the investigatory process including the carrying out of interviews with witnesses and suspects in relation to the suspected instance of malpractice or maladministration.

Learners must be within an appropriate role where they are in a position to carry out investigations into suspected maladministration or malpractice.
This is to allow an individual to gain the underpinning knowledge of the organisation and the method in which qualifications are delivered prior to undertaking the qualification and also in order to provide sufficient time to complete the necessary research and planning stages as required by the unit content.
The qualification should be delivered using evidence from a current or previous investigation completed within the 12 months prior to the commencement of the qualification.
As the completion of the qualification requires the undertaking of an investigation simulation may be used where an investigation is not in process or has not been conducted within the 12 months prior to the commencement of the qualification.
Where simulation is required, this must be based on real life scenarios authorised by SFEDI Awards prior to the assessment taking place.
